A paper on the cult of True Womanhood, a nineteenth-century social construction that defined a woman’s life according to four cardinal virtues: piety, purity, submissiveness and domesticity, and how it served to suppress intimacy in womens lives. 12-page paper that was awarded one of two 2010 Undergraduate Research Awards by the American University Library.
