dc.description The cannon "Union", supported on the gun carriage with the names of Cameron, Lincoln, Scott & Seward on it, is firing on the house 'Disunion' on it. Boards with the names Beauregard, Bragg, Davis, Floyd, Pillow, Rhett, Stephens and Twiggs on them are flying into the air. The boards with the words "Letter of Marque" and "Bonds" are also flying into the air. The trunk of the palmetto tree (a possible reference to South Carolina) is shown being split in two on the lower right part of the image. The words "D. Murphy's Son, Print. 65 Fulton & 372 Pearl Sts. N.Y." appears at the bottom of the envelope.
